KUCHING: Sarawak Integrity Day 2025 provides a platform to reinforce the culture of integrity among civil servants and the community, while also fostering the exchange of ideas and knowledge within Sarawak and across Malaysia.
Acting State Secretary, Datuk Seri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, said the theme ‘Integriti Teras Kemajuan Sarawak’ is in line with the commitment of the Sarawak Government, which places integrity as the foundation in shaping a prosperous, advanced and sustainable Sarawak.
“On behalf of all civil servants in Sarawak, I am determined to ensure that the government’s aspirations regarding integrity will continue to be practised in every service delivered to the people.
“Last year, we emphasised awareness, but this year and beyond, our focus is on implementation and strengthening,” he said.
He said this in his speech in conjunction with the Sarawak Integrity Day 2025 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

He said the participation of more than 2,000 people physically and another 10,000 virtually proves that integrity and teamwork are the pillars of Sarawak’s civil service that must be safeguarded together.
“Therefore, avoid unhealthy cultures such as backstabbing, gossiping, or belittling colleagues. We must respect one another because our intention in working is not for personal praise but for the well-being of the people and the progress of Sarawak,” he said.
Chief Secretary to the Malaysian Government, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, said that integrity is the foundation of the people’s trust in the government.
“Without integrity, progress will not last, and it may collapse due to distrust, abuse of power, and misconduct,” he said.
He added that integrity in public service is closely related to collective leadership, which requires every civil servant to carry responsibilities, not just the leader.
“Integrity is not only about rejecting corruption, but it also encompasses the values of trust, transparency, accountability, fairness, and professionalism. In the digital era, it must also be translated through efficient, transparent and effective governance,” he said.
He explained that Sarawak, under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, requires every member of the administration at both the federal and state levels to ensure that integrity remains the main foundation.
“This includes managing, planning and implementing policies to become role models for society. Show that every ringgit spent, every decision made, and every trust carried is for the people.
“For the community, integrity begins with oneself, the family, the community, and in everyday life,” he said.
