BAU: Three local men were arrested after testing positive for drugs during an integrated crime prevention operation held over the weekend.
Bau police said the two-day operation targeted crime hotspots in Bau town, Jambusan and Siniawan, while a roadblock was also mounted at Simpang Suba Buan along the Bau–Serikin Road.
During the operation, police inspected 63 vehicles and screened 80 individuals as part of efforts to deter criminal activities and enhance public safety.
The three men were arrested under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 after urine screening tests returned positive for drugs.
If convicted, the offence carries a penalty of up to two years’ imprisonment or a fine of not more than RM5,000, as well as be placed under police supervision.
Aside from that, police also issued three traffic summonses to motorists for failing to wear seat belts.
Police stressed that such integrated operations will continue to be carried out to strengthen crime prevention efforts, boost enforcement and maintain peace and security across the district.
