KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM) has strengthened cross-border youth collaboration by hosting representatives from the Youth Corps Singapore (YCS) here yesterday (Aug 29).
The courtesy visit, which followed AZAM Sarawak’s earlier trip to YCS in April, provided both organisations with a platform to exchange knowledge, deepen dialogue and explore potential collaborations.
Key highlight of the visit was the introduction of AZAM Young Souls (AYS), AZAM Sarawak’s youth wing to YCS. Both parties expressed interest in pursuing a joint project aimed at benefiting rural communities in Sarawak while enhancing regional youth engagement.
AZAM Sarawak chief executive officer Ali Suhaili said the engagement with YCS marked an important step forward in building stronger regional partnerships for youth development.
“We believe that by working together across borders, we can open more avenues for our young people to learn, lead and contribute to their communities in meaningful ways,” he said.
Echoing this, AZAM Sarawak manager of Strategic Communication, Media & Youth Relations, Hassnal Hakim, said the dialogue reinforced their shared mission of empowering youth as agents of change.
“The introduction of AZAM Young Souls to YCS today marks the beginning of an exciting journey where our young talents can connect, collaborate and co-create impactful initiatives that transcend geographical boundaries,” he said.
The YCS delegation, led by senior manager (Journey Crafter) Ms. Chong Si Man and accompanied by two volunteers, was warmly welcomed by Ali at AZAM Sarawak’s headquarters in Kuching.
YCS, an organisation under Singapore’s National Youth Council, is dedicated to nurturing youth leadership through structured volunteer programmes and initiatives that promote active citizenry.
At AZAM Sarawak, building meaningful partnerships remains central to its mission. Through engagements with organisations such as YCS, AZAM Sarawak aims to broaden collaborative networks, enrich youth development initiatives and strengthen community resilience, paving the way for impactful cross-border projects for future generations.
