KUCHING: The Kuching Love Book Association will be holding its 17th blood donation campaign this Sunday (Sept 7) at the Boulevard Shopping Mall here, aiming to help replenish the blood supply at Sarawak General Hospital.

The campaign, scheduled from 10 am to 3 pm, is organised in collaboration with the Sarawak General Hospital’s Blood Bank and the Malaysian Red Crescent Kuching branch.

“We hope people from all walks of life will come forward to support this meaningful cause. One blood donation can save three lives,” the association said in a statement today.

It added that eligible donors include those aged 18 and above weighing at least 45kg, while 17-year-olds may also donate with parental or guardian consent.

“Donors are advised to get sufficient rest, eat breakfast and avoid alcohol eight hours before donating. The process typically takes between five and 30 minutes,” it said, adding that donors will also be served buns, Milo and mineral water.

As a token of appreciation, the association said the first 80 successful donors will receive a goodies bag containing items such as rice, milk, mooncakes, oyster sauce, drinks, fish fillet and vouchers.

At the same time, Malaysian Red Crescent Kuching Branch, will be conducting live demonstrations of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use during the event.
