23 roads to close for ‘Maulidur Rasul’ procession

KUCHING: Twenty-three main roads in the city will be closed temporarily for the state-level Maulidur Rasul Gathering and Grand Procession at Padang Merdeka on Saturday (September 6).

The affected roads include the slip road and traffic lights from RTM to Padang Merdeka, Jalan Java, Jalan Market, the Jalan Gambier-Jalan Main Bazaar junction, Jalan Wawasan, Jalan Padungan near Everrise, Jalan Song Thian Chok, Jalan Borneo, the Jalan Ajibah Abol junction, Jalan Haji Taha, Jalan Parit Lama junction, Jalan Dagok junction, Jalan Muda Hashim, the Satok flyover slip road, and the Jalan P. Ramlee junction.

Kuching Police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said the road closures and diversions will begin as early as 6:00 am and remain in place until the programme concludes to ensure traffic control and a smooth flow throughout the event.

“Members of the public are advised to plan their journeys ahead of time and use alternative routes.

“Road users are also reminded not to park along the affected roads as it could disrupt traffic,” he said.
