MIRI: Maxim E-hailing Malaysia and the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri have formalised a strategic partnership to support humanitarian programmes through transportation assistance.

The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a mock cheque presentation ceremony recently.

According to Maxim, the ceremony was witnessed by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, who highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration in strengthening community welfare and improving access to essential services.

“Under the partnership, Maxim will provide complimentary rides for beneficiaries, volunteers, blood donors and staff involved in various MRC Miri activities, helping to improve accessibility and mobility for humanitarian programmes,” it said in a press statement.

The collaboration also explores the implementation of a dedicated corporate transportation account to support the organisation’s operations, including transporting dialysis patients, volunteers and personnel involved in emergency response and community outreach programmes.

Prior to the official ceremony, both organisations jointly organised a blood donation campaign in conjunction with World Blood Donor Day 2026, which received strong participation from members of the public and corporate volunteers.

Maxim said it recorded the highest number of participants in the blood donation programme, making it the only e-hailing platform actively collaborating with MRC Miri in the initiative.

Maxim Malaysia director Mohd Hazwan Musley said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to using its mobility platform to support communities in need.

“At Maxim, we believe mobility should empower communities and improve lives. Our partnership with the MRC Miri allows us to extend our services to those who need them most while encouraging our team and driver-partners to contribute to meaningful humanitarian causes,” he said in the statement.

He added that the strong participation in the blood donation campaign reflected the compassionate spirit within the Maxim community.

Meanwhile, MRC Miri chairperson Dr Mohd Arif Abdullah said reliable transportation plays a vital role in the organisation’s operations and service delivery.

“This collaboration with Maxim will significantly strengthen our operational capabilities and allow us to serve the community more effectively,” he said, adding that Maxim’s participation in the blood donation campaign demonstrated meaningful corporate social responsibility.

MRC Miri operates a range of humanitarian and community services, including a Kidney Dialysis Centre, the Sunflower Centre for persons with disabilities, health services, disaster preparedness and response programmes, accommodation facilities and fundraising initiatives.
