KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has called on Muslims in the state to renew their resolve in embracing the sunnah (teachings and practices) of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

In his message in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration today, he said this is important for the sake of religion, the state, and a more prosperous future.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, ‘Ummah Maju Makmur’, Wan Junaidi also said it was timely and fitting in encouraging Muslims to uphold Prophet Muhammad SAW as a role model in building a society that is not only advanced in physical and economic development, but also prosperous in knowledge, morals and spirituality.

“The celebration is also a platform for Muslims to strengthen the resolve to emulate the leadership, compassion, and integrity of the Prophet in daily life,” he said.

He further said that Islam emphasises a balanced development between worldly and spiritual needs.

“In line with the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, the Sarawak Government continues to prioritise digital economic growth, environmental sustainability, social well-being and inclusivity.

“In this regard, education and the nurturing of virtuous human capital must be reinforced, as knowledge and good conduct are the foundations of the strength and progress of the Muslim community,” he added.

He also highlighted that Sarawak remains a model of religious and cultural harmony, adding that the State Government’s establishment of the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund (SSWF) was a strategic step to safeguard the people’s well-being and secure the future of generations to come.

Wan Junaidi, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, also extended Maulidur Rasul greetings to Muslims across Sarawak.
