BAU: A local man was killed after being struck by a car along KM 17, Batu Kitang Bridge late last night (Sept 10).
The 11 pm accident occurred at around 11 pm when a Perodua Bezza, travelling to Bau from Kuching, collided with the pedestrian who was walking along the border between Bau and Kuching.
The victim was lying on the pedestrian lane, and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Kota Sentosa Hospital.
His remains were taken to the hospital for further actions.
Meanwhile, the Bezza driver escaped unscathed in the accident
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman, who confirmed the case, said that it is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Police are appealing to eyewitnesses to come forward to facilitate investigations by contacting the nearest police station.
