KUCHING: Two tenants were left with nothing but clothes on their backs after their home in Kampung Bako Hulu here, was engulfed by flames yesterday (Sept 21).
No injuries were reported in the 6.59 pm incident as they managed to evacuate to safety.
Firefighters from Tabuan Jaya and Petra Jaya stations were dispatched to the scene, about 12km away, following an emergency call.
Upon arrival, they found the wooden house beyond saving and performed the extinguishing deed using water sourced from a nearby hydrant.
Firefighters managed to contain the flames and prevent it from spreading to four nearby houses.
The fire was brought under control by 7.50 pm and overhaul works followed suit to ensure there is no potential reignition.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 9 pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
