KUCHING: A total of 227 individuals were conferred state awards and medals during an investiture ceremony held at Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex here today (Sept 23).
The ceremony, steeped in tradition, saw the conferment of various state orders and medals in recognition of the recipients’ exceptional service, dedication, and contributions to the state and society.
The investiture was officiated by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The ceremony began with the conferment of the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (P.P.C), awarded solely to Datin Helen Lim Hui Shyan.
For the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak – Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (P.B.S), recipients included Japar Mustapa and Dr Stephen William.
Meanwhile, the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak – Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (P.B.K) was awarded to 19 individuals, among them Rais Ahmat, Mohd Irwan Abdullah, Ting Sie Loh, and Joseph Chioh Hock Hua.
The Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (P.P.B) was also presented to more than 20 recipients, including Ahmad Aripin Saiman, Denny Lim, Dr Charlie Dudang, Deputy Superintendent of Police Zuriawati Zainal Abidin, and Aidawati Mustapha.
Recipients of the Ahli Bintang Sarawak (A.B.S) included Nicholas Bawin Burong, Ritchell Sidi, Wong King Ho, Walter Chang, Norliza Mohamad Salleh, as well as Sussie Stuart, who received the award on behalf of the late Soontik Changkan.
The investiture also saw the conferment of the Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (A.B.K) to more than 30 recipients, including Abdullah Madil, Ahmad Yusof Abdul Razak, Kenedy Bungsu, Dr Zurwina Sharkawi, Hasmah Hasbi, and Surya Bily.
For the Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (P.P.T), recipients included Alex Samson, Jumadi Ahmad, Nur Dayana Abdullah, and Rosnah Tudin.
The ceremony concluded with the conferment of the Bentara Bintang Sarawak (B.B.S) to more than 40 recipients, among them Ibau Emang, Charlie Avit Anyi, John Tik, Jalil Ladi, Aida Pakar, Jennifer Seping Ajeng, and Saloma Jamit.
Also present were DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom and Deputy State Secretary (Administration) Datuk Buckland Bangik.
