SINGAPORE: SDEC Karuna JV Sdn Bhd (SKJV), a joint venture between the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and Karuna (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, marked another major step in advancing Sarawak’s Smart City and Green Mobility agenda under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS2030).
The milestone was achieved during the STATOS Sarawak Mega Fair 2025 at Suntec City, Singapore (October16-17), where SKJV signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading international technology partners, I-Charging and WiredBoxGroup (WBG).
“This collaboration reinforces our mission to accelerate Sarawak’s transformation into a smarter, cleaner, and better-connected state, while strengthening its position as a regional hub for sustainable digital growth,” said SDEC Karuna JV Sdn Bhd (SKJV) through a press statement on Wednesday.
SKJV also partnered with I-Charging, MOBILIDADE ELECTRICA, S.A, a Portuguese electric mobility innovator with its regional headquarters in Singapore.
Signed by Muhammad Fa’izzul Zaidi , SKJV’s General Manager, and Nicholas Yeoh, the Regional Head of I-Charging, the MoU marks a major leap in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure deployment, bringing European charging technology to Sarawak to support a cleaner transport ecosystem and reduce carbon emissions.
“The second MoU was signed with WiredBoxGroup (WBG), a Singapore-based expert in smart energy and mobile charging systems.
“The partnership will introduce mobile EV charging units across Malaysia, creating flexible, fast-response energy solutions for the growing EV community and advancing Malaysia’s green energy goals,” it said.
These collaborations highlight Sarawak’s commitment to technology-driven and sustainable development in line with PCDS2030 goals to diversify the economy through innovation, green energy, and digital transformation.
“Through partnerships with global leaders, SDEC Karuna JV Sdn Bhd aims to position Sarawak as a pioneer in ‘Smart City’ development and green mobility, benefiting not only the state’s economy but also its communities and environment,” it said.
