KUALA LUMPUR: The iconic annual programme ‘Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak’ (LBAS) 2025 will open its doors today (Saturday, October 25) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur, with a larger and more impactful line-up under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity: The Foundation of Prosperity’.
The event, organised by a team of Sarawakian volunteers with the full support of the Sarawak Government, will gather Sarawakians residing in Peninsular Malaysia, including students, youth and professionals, in a day-long celebration of unity, identity and shared progress with the state leadership.
Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, who went to inspect the preparations for tomorrow, said everything is set for the grand event despite logistical challenges arising from the overlap with the ASEAN Summit, which is taking place in the capital on the same weekend.
“God-willing, everything will be ready tomorrow. The main challenge this time is that ‘Lan Berambeh’ coincides with the ASEAN Summit, but I’m confident our secretariat and volunteers will manage it well,” Fadillah said at MITEC last night.
The one-day event features a series of impactful activities, including the Sarawak Agenda Town Hall session with the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, at 11:30 a.m., along with the Sarawak Expo, Kenyalang Speaks, Inisiatif Kerja Kenyalang, Meet & Greet Kampung Kamek Pavilion, and Sarawak Students’ Croc’s Tank forum.
Meanwhile, the ‘Kenyalang Speaks’ segment will feature several distinguished speakers, including Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Datuk Fenny Nuli (Malaysian Ambassador to Peru), Datuk Seri Idris Jala (President and Chairman of PEMANDU Associates), and Danial Azizan (Country Head, Google Education).
Each speaker will share their journeys of success and insights to inspire the next generation of Sarawakian leaders.
Meanwhile, a total of 89 exhibitors representing ministries, government agencies, government-linked companies (GLCs), and corporate organisations will also take part, introducing key development initiatives, scholarship opportunities, and career pathways for Sarawakian youths studying or working in Peninsular Malaysia.
Visitors can also look forward to an array of cultural and lifestyle activities, including ‘Treasures of Sarawak’, ‘Pocket Show: Anak Sarawak Edition’, and ‘Sarawak Live Kitchen’, featuring beloved dishes such as laksa Sarawak, mi kolok, and umai.
The vibrant programme, which began in 2008, reflects the diversity and unity of Sarawak’s people while strengthening connections between Sarawakians in Peninsular Malaysia and their homeland.
The celebration will conclude during the Anak Sarawak Gala Dinner, attended by the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, together with the Premier of Sarawak and other state dignitaries.
The dinner marks the event’s grand finale, celebrating Sarawak’s unity, progress, and shared aspirations under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 framework.
