Head of State graces ‘Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2025’

KUALA LUMPUR: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, gracefully officiated the 16th edition of Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak (LBAS) held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur, on Saturday night.

The arrival of Wan Junaidi and Fauziah at 8:00 pm was warmly welcomed by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abang Abdul Rahman Johari Tun Openg, and his daughter, Dayang Nurjihan; the Minister of Works and LBAS 2025 Organising Chairman, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi; as well as distinguished guests and their spouses.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Patron of Sarawak Volunteers, Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof; Senator Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah; Deputy Premiers, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Asfia Awang Nassar; State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; together with Cabinet Ministers from both the federal and state governments, senior officials, and other distinguished guests were also in attendance.

The event began with a special video presentation highlighting the Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak journey and achievements, followed by welcoming remarks from Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who also serves as Chairman of the Organising Committee.

This was followed by a speech by the Premier of Sarawak, who expressed his heartfelt appreciation for Wan Junaidi’s service and contributions in developing Sarawak towards achieving ‘Developed Region’ status by 2030.

The event continued with a symbolic canting of the ‘Batik Unity Sarawak’, officiated by Wan Junaidi and Fauziah, accompanied by the Premier and other dignitaries, marking the official launch of LBAS 2025.

Shortly after, Wan Junaidi also took part in the cutting of the pulut kuning to commemorate his 79th birthday celebration.

This annual gathering continues to serve as a meaningful platform for Sarawakians living in Peninsular Malaysia to reconnect, strengthen bonds, and reaffirm their shared identity.

This year’s edition gathered over 6,000 participants, including around 3,500 university students from various institutions.
