SELANGAU: Three men, aged between 30 and 39, were arrested on Wednesday under ‘Op Tapis Khas’ for suspected involvement in drug abuse activities.

Mukah Police Chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, said the arrests were made at various locations along the main roads here.

“During checks, each suspect was found with a small clear straw tube containing crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine.

“Preliminary urine tests also returned positive results for amphetamine and methamphetamine for all three individuals,” he said in a statement.

Police seized a total of 1.19 grammes of drugs, with an estimated street value of RM300.

Rizal added that the suspects, who are employed as labourers, have been remanded for four days until November 17 to facilitate further investigations.

Cases are being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“IPD Mukah is committed to curbing drug abuse activities in Mukah and Selangau.

“Members of the public with information on drug-related activities are urged to report to the hotline 084-871222 or the nearest police station,” he stated.
