KUCHING: Three young Sarawak players have been called up to attend selection trials for the formation of the national squad ahead of the 2025 AFC Under-19 Futsal Championship.
They are Mohd Nazwan Airil Mohd Haykal, 17 (defender), Muhamad Zafqul Syamil Darahman, 16 (forward), and Mohd Aidil Putra Mohd Zakaria Ahmad, 15 (forward).
According to head coach, Mohd Faizal Zamri, all three are part of the shadow squad for 2026 SUKMA.
“Based on the initial list, five of our players were called for the national selection camp. However, two could not join due to unavoidable commitments,” he said.
Faizal added that the trio have gained experience competing in Malaysia’s futsal league and deserve this opportunity.
“We hope they make the most of it. This is their chance to wear the national colours,” he added.
The 2025 AFC Under-19 Futsal Championship will be held at Nonthaburi Gymnasium Stadium, Thailand.
