MIRI: Police will implement comprehensive road closures and traffic diversions across central Miri tomorrow (Nov 16), as the city hosts the Miri City 21 Half Marathon 2025.
The race, which begins at 5 am and runs until 8 am, features two categories: the 21-kilometre half marathon and a four-kilometre run. All participants will start and finish at Miri City Hall.
Miri District Police confirmed that several major arteries will form the core race route, including Jalan Marina Utama, Jalan Brighton, Jalan Luak, the Esplanade, and Jalan Melayu.
To secure the course and manage race flow, officers will close or divert numerous junctions through phased traffic control. Key points affected include the Bandaraya traffic light junction, Marina 5, Marina 3, Marina 1, the Pullman roundabout, the Marina 1 and Jalan Bendahara junction, the Marina 3 and Jalan Kubu junction, the Tanjung traffic lights, the Luak traffic lights, the Masjid Luak traffic lights and the Jalan Aru traffic lights.
The police have urged public cooperation, stressing that compliance with on-site instructions is essential for safety during the event. Residents and motorists are advised to plan their routes ahead to avoid congestion and minimise disruption.
