BAU: Eight men were arrested during a narcotics operation around Singai and Sebobok on Wednesday.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the arrests were made during an ‘Op Tapis Khas’ and ‘Op Waran Tangkap’ carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) of IPD Bau between 6.45 am and 9 am.
“One of the suspects was found in possession of two small transparent packets containing a crystal-like substance believed to be syabu.
“He is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Haide added that all eight suspects, aged between 21 to 34 tested positive for drugs during preliminary urine screening and are being detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
He stressed police will not compromise on any involvement in drug-related activities and urged the public to channel information to the authorities via the NCID Bukit Aman hotline at 012-208 7222 or the NCID IPK Sarawak hotline at 017-592 9211.
