KUCHING: Sarawak media practitioners may soon receive special incentives, as hinted by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“Just wait. If we have the money, what’s wrong with sharing it with the media?” He told reporters after attending the pre-council meeting ahead of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting and the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council Meeting at the party’s headquarters today (Nov 22).

When asked whether the announcement would be made during the ongoing DUN sitting, the Premier remained tight-lipped.

Johor became the first state to introduce a specific media incentive, allocating RM200,000 in its 2026 Budget to recognise the media’s role in delivering accurate information and strengthening communication between the government and the public.
