KUCHING: Pullman Hotel Kuching ushered in the festive season with its annual Christmas tree light-up through a collaboration with the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA).
Nearly 200 invited guests, including community leaders, corporate partners, media and influencers, gathered at the hotel’s newly renovated lobby for an evening themed around connection, inclusivity and shared joy.
The hotel lobby came alive with a grand gingerbread house, beautiful Christmas lights and décor, choirs serenading carols, delicious festive dinners for patrons, and friends sharing fun, laughter and warm connections.
This year’s celebration was especially significant as Pullman Kuching launched its Christmas Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity (DEI) campaign in partnership with KAA.
KAA children added a joyful energy to the festivities, their presence reinforcing Pullman Kuching’s message of compassion and inclusivity.
Their artwork and handcrafted festive merchandise were displayed throughout the lobby, transforming the space into a vibrant celebration of creativity.
At the same time, the event marked one of the first major celebrations held in Pullman Kuching’s redesigned lobby, a space envisioned to inspire connection and community.
Pullman Kuching general manager Sunardi Song said the hotel’s Christmas is about hospitality rooted in community.
“Hospitality, at its heart, is about people, about community and care.
“Christmas at Pullman Kuching has always been more than lights and decor. It is about togetherness, shared experiences, and the joy of celebrating as one community. Tonight, that spirit shines brighter than ever,” said Sunardi at the launch of the event on Monday night (Dec 1).
He added that the partnership with KAA reflects the hotel’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity, values that shape its culture and engagement with the local community.
As part of its DEI campaign, Pullman Kuching introduced two key initiatives to support KAA’s developmental and educational programmes, which are the Festive Fundraising: Part of the proceeds from the Christmas Eve Buffet Dinner will be donated to support KAA’s work with autistic children and KAA Merchandise Corner: A dedicated lobby showcase features festive items and artwork made by KAA children, with 100 per cent of sales benefiting the organisation.
According to KAA secretary Duane Reggie, many of their children express themselves through creativity, through colour, texture, and the details that reflect how they see the world.
“Sharing their artwork here at Pullman Kuching gave families a space to connect and helped others understand the different ways our children communicate.”
At the same time, the hotel also continues its work with the Penan Women Project, preserving traditional weaving and providing scholarship and income opportunities for Penan women, a heritage elegantly woven into the guest experience.
The finale for the night closed with a ‘festive dining in the Spirit of Homecoming’.
Guests are invited to experience Pullman Kuching’s refreshed Culina Restaurant this festive season. The Christmas Eve Buffet will feature traditional holiday favourites, while the New Year’s Eve dinner will showcase a fusion of Pan-Asian flavours, fresh seafood, and Sarawakian culinary signatures.
