Q&A WITH DATUK IDRIS BUANG

Question: What’s your hobby during your free time?

Idris: I love to read about educational topics, especially studies on Islamic stories, particularly those about Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah. I enjoy reading about them and also watching related videos on YouTube and social media, as I believe it is important to study Islam to broaden my knowledge. I am also interested in other subjects, such as science, especially the cosmos. Lately, I have been reading about the three-eye Atlas comet passing through our solar system, and I enjoy observing such phenomena. Besides reading and learning, I also like to listen to music.

Question: What kind of music do you listen to?

Idris: Just ordinary ballads and instrumental music.

Question: What do you usually do first thing in the morning, grab your phone or have a coffee?

Idris: My morning routine, I would check my phone first and tap for messages and check out the latest headline. However, I don’t like reading about politics because sometimes it is a bit too nasty. I like reading about light topics to stay up to date with current things.

Question: Besides reading, do you have any other hobbies now?

Idris: I like to have time for myself by enjoying some peace and quiet.

Question: Do you read physical books or digital books?

Idris: Digital books, but I do have physical books especially those about the Prophet Muhammad and Islamic historical stories.

Question: What is your favourite destination for vacation?

Idris: Without a doubt, Makkah and Madinah. I have been fortunate enough to travel there countless of times.

Question: Do you prefer traveling there during the winter or summer?

Idris: Both seasons have their advantages. To me, the mosques in Makkah and Madinah are always cool and serene regardless of the season.
