KUCHING: A total of 625 runners from Kuching, Bau and Kota Samarahan participated in the Datuk Amar Juma’ani Bridge Run held at Jalan Kulas today.
The inaugural programme, organised by Eventribe and supported by the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, drew an energetic crowd despite the rainy weather.
The event, which began at 7:00 am, saw the 5-kilometre (km) category attract the most attention with 470 entries while the 3-km category recorded 153 participants.
The two-hour programme was also attended by Kuching Resident, Dayang Hajah Joanita Azizah Abang Haji Morshidi, who presented prizes to the winners.
The 5-km men’s category was dominated by Faris, who completed the run in approximately 15 minutes, while Sally Yap won the women’s category with a recorded time of about 20 minutes.
The champion received RM500 in cash and a medal, followed by the runner-up, who took home RM300 and a medal.
Third place winner received RM200 and a medal, fourth place winner RM150 and a medal, and fifth place winner RM100 and a medal.
Meanwhile, the sixth to tenth place winners each received RM50 plus a medal.
