KUCHING: A total of 12,234 senior citizens have been registered as beneficiaries of Sarawak’s Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) programme as of December 19, 2025.

Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said the programme provides cashless outpatient treatment of up to RM500 per year to senior citizens aged 60 and above from households earning RM7,000 and below.

She said senior citizens that have already received the monthly assistance from Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKM) did not need to submit an application, as their eligibility has been automatically registered in the system.

“Those who are not recipients under JKM assistance, but meet the income criteria may apply to enjoy the SCHB facilities,” she told the media after the monthly report meeting of the One Stop Committee (OSC) on Drugs and Substance Abuse (MIDS) Sarawak held at Wisma Bapa here today.

“There are currently 286 registered panel healthcare facilities under the SCHB programme across Sarawak. Of the total, 177 are medical clinics, 97 dental clinics and 12 specialist hospitals,” she said.

Fatimah assured that the welfare and continuity of treatment for senior citizens under the SCHB programme will continue to be safeguarded.

She also reminded all panel clinics to comply with service standards, uphold high integrity and prioritise patients’ interests.

“The Sarawak Government will continue to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, regulatory oversight and policy improvements to ensure the programme remains transparent, effective and implemented with integrity,” she added.
