KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patingi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has reminded Sarawakians of the state’s long-standing practice of unity despite differences in religion, ethnicity, and culture.
In his Christmas message for 2025, he pointed out that the spirit of ‘Segulai Sejalai’ is not merely a phrase but a way of life that unites Sarawakians as one big Sarawak family.
“It has become our practice and pride in this state to live in harmony and mutual respect, despite differences in religion, ethnicity, and culture. The spirit of “Segulai Sejalai” that we uphold is not merely a phrase but a way of life that unites us as one big Sarawak family.
“Therefore, let this Christmas, like other celebrations, serve as a platform for us to continue building a strong, harmonious, and stable Sarawak,” he said.
The Premier extended his warmest greetings to all Christian adherents throughout Sarawak who are celebrating Christmas.
He expressed hope that celebrants would spend the festive season in good health, surrounded by family and friends.
“This is a time for us to share warmth, embrace the meaning of family, and together give thanks for all the blessings bestowed by Almighty God,” he said.
The Premier also urged Sarawakians to continue building a strong, harmonious, and stable Sarawak, using festive celebrations as an opportunity to strengthen unity across all communities.
“On behalf of my family and I, I wish a Merry Christmas to all Christian communities in Sarawak and a Happy New Year 2026. May we all be blessed with good health, lasting harmony, and a strong spirit of unity.
“Let us together welcome the year 2026 with hope and commitment to continue developing the Sarawak we love,” he added.
