SIBU: An elderly man suffered a head injury after collapsing along Jalan Oya and was subsequently sent to hospital for further treatment today.
Sibu Civil Defence Force (APM) Officer, Major Mohd Reduan Aini, said they received a distress call at 11.57 am reporting that a pedestrian had fallen on the roadway in front of a motorcycle dealership.
A five-member team was dispatched to the scene, about 5 kilometres away.
“Upon arrival, they found the 77-year-old victim lying on the road and accompanied by Pelawan assemblyman, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, as well as several members of the public.
“The victim sustained a head injury with bleeding following the fall,” he said.
Initial assistance was rendered at the scene before he was placed on a stretcher and moved into an ambulance.
Reduan added that the victim was later taken to Sibu Hospital for further treatment, accompanied by his son.
Throughout the journey, he remained conscious and was continuously monitored by APM members.
