SERIAN: The official opening of Serian Health Clinic marked the end of a long wait for residents, reflecting years of efforts by local leaders to secure a more comfortable and accessible healthcare facility for the community.

Officiated by Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, the clinic was expected to ease pressure on existing healthcare services while bringing medical care closer to residents in and around the Serian district.

Serian Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, said the clinic, which had been in operation for almost a year, had already provided much-needed relief to the local community.

“With the availability of this Type Three Health Clinic (KK3), the workload at Serian Hospital, which had previously been overstretched, was reduced.

“The minister’s presence today is deeply appreciated by residents, as it recognises the long-standing call for better healthcare facilities in the area,” he said.

He spoke to reporters after Dr Dzulkefly conducted a walkabout of the clinic here today.

For the record, the clinic was developed at a cost of about RM23.9 million and comprised a built-up area of roughly 2,790 square metres.

The clinic is expected to cater to between 300 and 500 patients a day, serving more than 85,000 residents across the Serian district.

Construction was completed in January 2025, and the clinic began operations on April 7, 2025.
