BAU: Two local men were arrested for allegedly abusing drugs after a roadside stop along Jalan Kampung Melayu raised police suspicions.
The suspects, aged 29 and 32, were intercepted by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) during a routine check in the area last night (Jan 20).
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said urine screening tests later confirmed that both men tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
No drugs or prohibited items were found during inspections.
Further checks found that the younger suspect works as a factory worker, while the other is unemployed.
Both were also found to have prior records involving drug-related offences.
During preliminary questioning, the suspects reportedly admitted to abusing syabu a day before their arrest.
Mohd Haide said both men are being held at the Bau police lock-up to facilitate further investigations under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
