GEDONG: An allocation of RM176,000 for maintenance, welfare and the enhancement of learning facilities was allocated for Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kepayang in Gedong, reaffirming continued efforts to strengthen education in rural areas.
The allocation was announced following a visit by the Premier’s special representative in Gedong, Datuk Seri Naroden Majais to the school recently.
During the visit, he received a briefing from SK Kepayang headmistress Eda Obeng on the school’s background, existing facilities and challenges faced in ensuring a comfortable and conducive learning environment.
Eda said the swift approval of the allocation reflected Naroden’s concern for the welfare of the school community and his commitment to addressing the pressing needs of rural educational institutions.
Of the total amount approved, RM150,000 has been earmarked for upgrading the school hall, which will serve as a safer and more comfortable multipurpose venue for academic and co-curricular activities.
The remaining funds will be used for classrooms (RM10,000), the administration office and teachers’ room (RM10,000), the teachers’ recreation club (RM3,000) and the purchase of a Smart TV (RM3,000) to support digital learning initiatives.
The allocation is viewed not only as financial assistance but also as a long-term investment aimed at improving the quality of education, enhancing students’ learning experience and creating a better working environment for educators, in line with the demands of 21st-century education.
