SERIAN: A total of 178 commercial and private vehicles were inspected during a special enforcement operation carried out by the Road Transport Department (RTD) Serian Branch in collaboration with the Serian Enforcement Station.
Dubbed Ops Gempur Kenderaan Perdagangan, the operation was conducted to curb traffic offences and ensure road users complied with safety regulations.
RTD Sarawak said inspections uncovered various violations, including vehicles carrying excessive loads and motorists driving without valid licences.
Other offences detected included failure to wear seat belts, expired road tax, as well as technical defects and other breaches under road transport laws, it said in a statement.
The department added that similar enforcement operations would continue to be intensified to improve road safety and ensure compliance among all road users.
