BINTANGOR: A local man was taken into custody in connection with a mobile phone snatch theft case yesterday (Jan 26), leading to the recovery of a stolen iPhone 12.
The arrest was made by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at around 10.50 am in front of a shop along Jalan Teo Kui Ngo, Pasar Bintangor.
Meradong police chief DSP Tansli Mering said the suspect and seized phone were taken to the district police headquarters (IPD) to assist in investigations.
Initial urine screening test found the suspect tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
He will be remanded to facilitate further investigations under Section 356 of the Penal Code.
If convicted, the suspect may be sentenced to two years in prison, fined, caning, or any two of the punishments.
