MUKAH: Narcotics police arrested two labourers in separate locations for possessing suspected methamphetamine worth RM220 last Sunday (Jan 25).

The arrests were made during ‘Ops Tapis Khas’, with the suspects — a local man and a foreign national, both aged 30 were detained for inspection along Jalan Pasar Selangau and near a hardware shop.

Further checks led to the discovery of two plastic packets containing suspected methamphetamine weighing 0.37g and 0.31g respectively.

The suspects together with the seized drugs were taken to the police station for further actions.

Urine screening tests later found that they tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The suspects are being remanded for four days until Jan 30 to facilitate investigations under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Mukah police urged the public to report any information related to drug activities via the district police headquarters’ (IPD) hotline at 084-871222 or the nearest police station.
