KUCHING: Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd paid a courtesy visit to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, during which RM445,000 in business zakat was handed over to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak.

The zakat handover was witnessed by Abang Johari, together with Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha, at a meeting highlighting corporate responsibility and social development.

Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain said the contribution reflected the group’s unwavering commitment to responsible corporate citizenship and inclusive, sustainable growth in Sarawak.

“This zakat contribution demonstrates our belief that business success must go hand in hand with social responsibility,” he said, adding that the wakalah approach ensured funds were reinvested into impactful, long-term community initiatives.

A portion of the zakat contribution channelled through the wakalah mechanism will be utilised to strengthen Senari Synergy’s Permata Synergy Programme, a structured initiative supporting underprivileged children aged six to twelve through education, wellbeing and development.

During the visit, Senari Synergy also briefed Abang Johari on its current progress and strategic direction, including efforts to strengthen its role as a state strategic facilities provider and accelerate its transition towards green energy solutions.

The group further outlined its regional expansion initiatives, which are aligned with Sarawak’s long-term development agenda and aimed at creating sustainable economic value while supporting the state’s aspirations for inclusive growth.

Group managing director Datuk Jefri Ahmad Tambi said the visit provided an opportunity to update Abang Johari on Senari Synergy’s future plans as a Sarawak-born company with strong local roots.

“We remain committed to strengthening our role as a trusted state facilities provider, advancing green energy initiatives and pursuing regional growth that delivers tangible benefits back to Sarawak.”

Senari Synergy also conveyed its congratulations to Abang Johari on being conferred the Order of the Rising Sun last year, reaffirming its commitment to working closely with the Sarawak government to enhance social wellbeing and long-term economic resilience.
