In London’s heart, back in ’fourteen,
I met a man who’d changed the scene.
No stranger to the ice and blue,
The “Human Polar Bear” — Lewis Pugh.
He stood before us, bold and bright,
Turning “impossible” to light.
“It’s not a fact,” he told the crowd,
“Just an opinion,” spoken loud.
He didn’t just talk of the freezing deep,
Or the promises he had to keep;
He demonstrated through the tide
That limits live only deep inside.
UN Patron, hero, swimmer of seas,
He brought our forum to its knees.
I took my photo, a soul inspired,
By the grit and passion he had fired.
So when the mountain seems too high,
Or shadows cloud the morning sky,
Remember the man who swam the blue:
The “Impossible” is up to you.
