BAU: Five men aged between 21 and 57 were arrested in a gambling raid codenamed ‘Op Limau’ at a house under construction in Kampung Segong here yesterday (Feb 19).

Bau police chief DSP Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the raid was carried out by a team from D7 Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Sarawak at about 5pm following intelligence on illegal gambling activities.

Upon arrival, officers found the group allegedly engaged in the traditional dice gambling game known as ‘holo’, with one of them believed to be the organiser.

Among items seized were a blue holo board, three dice, a gambling cloth, a round table, four chairs and RM1,174 in cash believed to be gambling proceeds.

The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

The suspects had to undergo urine screening tests.
