SIBU: A total of 50 individuals from needy groups here received assistance through the Community Caring Pilgrimage Programme in conjunction with Ramadan 1447H and Aidilfitri 2026, recently.

Sibu BAKIT branch chairman, Mohammad Saifuddin Othman Kamal said the programme reflected continuous efforts in fostering the spirit of gotong-royong and the value of mutual assistance, which has become the core strength of the community.

“The month of Ramadan is a time that educates us about the importance of giving and sharing.

“Everything that is presented is not just in the form of zakat or donations, but rather a reminder that in a community, we depend on and strengthen each other,” he said.

The programme was organised by the Neighbourhood Rukun Tetangga (KRT) Nangka Bandong and Abang Barieng (NBAB) Sibu in collaboration with BAKIT Sibu Branch.

Saifuddin hoped that this grassroots approach could strengthen relationships and strengthen the spirit of togetherness within the community.

“It is hoped that the contributions presented can be a complement for Ramadan, thus somewhat easing the burden of the recipients and bringing them joy.

Meanwhile, the recipients consisted of single mothers, senior citizens and People with Disabilities (OKU).

Apart from the presentation of donations, Telekom Malaysia also opened an exhibition space to promote the company’s products and services, including Unifi Mobile, to the attendees.
