KUCHING: ICOM Square is reinforcing its position as one of Kuching’s most dynamic business and lifestyle hubs, with renewed efforts to enhance its vibrancy and community presence this year.

Strategically located along Jalan Pending, the integrated commercial development has steadily grown since its establishment in 2015, combining corporate offices, retail outlets, dining options, and lifestyle conveniences within one modern setting.

Chairman of the ICOM Square Joint Management Body One (JMB One), Datuk Patrick Liew, said the management has consistently introduced festive decorations and community gatherings to energise the atmosphere.

“We organise gatherings for major celebrations, from Chinese New Year and Hari Raya to Christmas and New Year’s Eve, to create a vibrant and welcoming environment,” he said.

He said this at the lion dance performance in conjunction with Chinese New Year at Canopy AB & CDE at ICOM Square on Thursday.

According to Liew, ICOM Square houses a diverse mix of businesses, including four banks, five insurance companies, private enterprises, and numerous accounting and audit firms.

“This place is very composite in nature, bringing together different professions and industries, making it highly marketable and sought-after,” he added.

The development comprises 438 commercial units, featuring a seven- to ten-storey corporate tower, four-storey shop offices, and a signature sky canopy concourse enhancing accessibility.

Liew noted that many units are fully occupied, reflecting strong demand, although tenant movements occur as investors and businesses periodically transition.

“It is the duty of the JMB, since taking over in July 2024, to ensure services for landlords and tenants meet high standards,” he emphasised.

He said maintaining cleanliness, safety, and security remains a top priority, despite the building being 11 years old, to preserve property value.

“By keeping standards high, property prices can appreciate, and businesses here can thrive, especially restaurants, cafés, and other F&B outlets,” he explained.

The Joint Management Body operates on a voluntary basis, with committee members dedicating time and effort to address concerns promptly and professionally.

“We do not delay in resolving issues. Any feedback or suggestions for improvement are taken positively and acted upon,” Liew stressed.

Looking ahead, ICOM Square plans to expand its event hosting capabilities, with a dedicated space accommodating up to 150 people for seminars and functions.

“With continued support from landlords, tenants, and the community, we aim to strengthen ICOM Square’s role as one of Kuching’s notable commercial landmarks,” he said.
