SERIAN: Police arrested a local man for allegedly conducting online gambling activities at a premises in Pekan Baki here in the early hours of today (Feb 27).
Serian police chief Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian said the arrest was made at about 12.30pm by officers from the Criminal Investigation Division.
He said initial inspection found the suspect believed to be involved in online gambling activities and items were seized to assist investigations.
“The case is being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953,” he said in a statement.
Freddy said police would continue to intensify operations and take firm action against those involved in illegal gambling activities.
He urged members of the public to channel information related to unlicensed gambling activities to IPD Serian at 082-874442 or the nearest police station.
