SIBU: The Sibu Kidney Foundation (SKF) will be organising a series of programmes to raise awareness on kidney health, encourage early detection, and promote sustainable healthy lifestyle practices.

The one-day event to be held in conjunction with World Kidney Day 2026 at its premises here on March 8 (Sunday) offers affordable blood tests, free medical consultations, Continuing Medical Education (CME) talks, and free consultations aimed at improving long-term kidney health.

Announcing this, SKF Chairman, Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau said health screening services and CME talks will be extended to SKF in-house patients, their family members, as well as members of the public, reinforcing SKF’s ongoing commitment to community health education and preventive care.

“The theme for this year’s celebration is Kidney Health for All – Caring for People, Protecting the Planet,” he said.

Lau explained that In support of this cause, SKF is launching limited-edition “Kidney Health for All’’ T-shirts as a symbolic contribution to society, with 1,000 pieces available priced at RM12 per unit.

He also said SKF will be offering health screening and blood test packages at special promotional rates.

A comprehensive blood test package, he said,  is available from as low as RM80, on a first-come, first-served basis, and includes numerous essential tests to support early detection and monitoring of kidney-related conditions.

Meanwhile, he stated that SKF will welcome visiting nephrologist, Dr Tiong Kung Ung, who will be delivering CME talks.

His sessions on Phosphate Diet for Dialysis Patients” and CKD Management at Early Stage” aim to educate patients and caregivers on dietary control, early disease detection, and preventive management.

Free medical consultations with Dr Tiong will also be provided during the event.

In addition, Lau said the world global leader in dialysis, Fresenius Medical Care, will be supporting the event by facilitating Body Composition Monitor (BCM) evaluations for patients.

“BCM is a non-invasive assessment tool that provides valuable insights into fluid status, body composition, and hydration balance, enabling more precise fluid management, reducing complications related to fluid imbalance, and supporting improved dialysis outcomes and overall patient well-being.

“Public are encouraged to make advance bookings by contacting SKF at 084-343500.  Slots are limited and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis,” Lau added.
