SIBU: A woman sustained minor injuries after her car veered off the road in a single-vehicle accident along the Pan Borneo Highway in central Sarawak on Saturday afternoon.
The mishap occurred near Rh. Kiruh, Tamin, with emergency services receiving a distress call at 1:39pm.
Firefighters from the Selangau station, located approximately 27 kilometres away, arrived at the scene at 2pm.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the crash involved a Proton X50 driven by an adult.
Initial reports indicate that the driver was not trapped inside the vehicle and remained conscious following the impact.
She was assessed at the scene and found to have sustained only minor injuries.
“The victim was handed over to the Civil Defence Force for further medical attention,” the department said in a statement.
A total of five firefighters and one fire engine were deployed for the operation. Personnel from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force and the police were also present to assist.
The cause of the accident has not been disclosed, but authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly along long stretches of highway where fatigue and road conditions can increase the risk of accidents.
