KUCHING: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) is set to host major events as part of its 45th anniversary and 2026 calendar programme.
LCDA Corporate Affairs’ Senior Manager, Saiful Bahari Amra Ramly, said one of the programmes is the Social Impact Assessment in Emerging Economies Conference and Exhibition (SIAC2026)
“This will be the first time this conference will be held in Malaysia, with LCDA serving as one of the organisers alongside the Ministry of Urban Development and Natural Resources (MUDA), counterparts from Peninsular Malaysia, and the Malaysian Association of Social Impact Assessment.
“The international conference is expected to attract around 500 to 600 participants from both Malaysia and abroad.
“The event will focus on ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Brunei, reflecting the growing regional trend of social impact assessment,” he told reporters during the LCDA Sapphire Run 1.0 media conference here today.
Tentatively scheduled from Nov 29 to Dec 3 at Pullman Hotel, the conference will feature international speakers and paper presenters.
“We will also hold a special press conference for the event in November,” Saiful added.
“It is expected that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will attend to officiate, though this is still in the planning stage.”
Meanwhile, another significant initiative is the LCDA Kembara Tour (Kembara Jelajah LCDA), which will start in July.
“We plan to start in July, beginning from Lawas, stopping at Betong, and continuing down to Kuching, then Gedong, concluding at the main hub,” Saiful said.
“The tour will visit towns where LCDA projects are concentrated, many of which are represented by the deputy and LCDA chairman.”
Also present were LCDA Staff Club chairman, Khairul Hisyam Abdullah, and GRIT Event Management’s Chief Executive Officer, Awang Saifeluddin.
