SIBU: In conjunction with International Women’s Day observed annually on March 8, Pelawan state assemblyman, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, will distribute 1,500 whole chickens to female voters in the Pelawan constituency.
Tiang, who is also Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government said the community initiative is organised in collaboration with CCK Local, with both parties sponsoring 750 chickens each.
“The programme aims to celebrate International Women’s Day while extending appreciation and care to women in the community,” he said during the press conference held at Pelawan Service Centre on Wednesday (Mar 4).
Voucher collection starts today (Thursday, Mar 5) at Pelawan Service Centre, located at No. 20, Lorong 2F, Sungai Merah, from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm, on a first-come first-served basis while stocks last.
Eligible recipients must bring their identity cards (ICs) when collecting the vouchers.
For female voters aged 60 and above, voucher collection can be made by a representative, applicable only with one voucher per representative.
The chicken distribution will take place on March 8 (Sunday) from 8.30 am to 11 am at CCK Local, Ulu Sungai Merah.
Recipients are required to present their vouchers at the venue to collect the chicken.
Tiang also expressed appreciation to CCK Local for their support and cooperation in making the programme possible.
