KUCHING: A man previously reported missing in Serian was safely reunited with his family after he was found wandering in the city and later handed over to police by a security guard.

The man was brought to the Sungai Maong Police Station at about 11.15 pm on Thursday (March 5) after he was found wandering around The Podium.

Police said the man did not have any identification documents with him and had difficulty communicating, as he is believed to have autism.

Attempts to obtain information from him were unsuccessful due to his limited ability to speak.

Police later shared details of the case on the Sarawak Edition Facebook page to help trace the missing person’s family.

With assistance from members of the public who recognised him, the missing man’s sister contacted the Sungai Maong Police Station at about 12.50 am on Friday (March 6) and confirmed that the individual was her younger brother, who has autism.

He was subsequently sent and handed over to his sister and grandfather at the Serian Police Station at about 2 am the same day in good and safe condition.
