KUCHING: Immigration officers detained 40 undocumented foreign nationals during enforcement operations at several workers’ quarters in Samarahan and Sejingkat late Friday night (March 6).
The operations, carried out by the Kuching Enforcement Division, involved 30 immigration officers and targeted workers’ accommodation provided by employers at construction sites.
During the raid, several individuals attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended by officers involved in the operation.
All 40 detainees were taken to the Semuja Immigration Depot in Serian for further detention and investigation.
The Immigration Department said enforcement operations would continue from time to time to curb the presence of foreign nationals who violate the country’s immigration laws.
