Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the arrests involved two local men and the foreign woman aged between 28 and 33.

He said they were detained at Tabuan Tranquility here and Kampung Stass in Bau at about 3pm on Wednesday (Mar 11) under Ops Lejang Khas.

“Initial investigations found that the two male suspects were involved in vehicle theft cases, while the woman was the girlfriend of one of them.

“Police also seized two vehicles, a Perodua and a Toyota, during the operation.

“Checks revealed one of the men had several past criminal records. Urine screening also found both men tested positive for drugs, while the woman tested negative,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft, which carries a jail term of between one and seven years and may also include a fine.

Alexson advised the public not to get involved in criminal activities and urged those with information to contact the Kuching police control centre at 082-244444.
