Police seize seven motorcycles in traffic crackdown

SARATOK: Police here have seized seven motorcycles following public complaints about teenagers riding modified motorcycles with loud exhausts in the area.

Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the seizures were made during Op Pematuhan Lalulintas and Op Motosikal conducted around the town, Roban and Kabong from Mar 2 until today (Mar 14).

He said the motorcycles were seized under Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

During the operation, police also issued 64 traffic summonses for various offences.

Among the offences recorded were vehicle modification (25 cases), failing to obey traffic signals (18), riding a motorcycle without a licence (six) and not wearing a helmet (five).

Mathew said the operation was carried out following complaints from the public about teenagers riding modified motorcycles with loud exhausts along public roads.

He added that enforcement operations would continue to ensure road users comply with traffic regulations.
