KUCHING: A total of 50 asnaf youths aged between 13 and 18 were treated to a special shopping outing during the Cahaya Prihatin SABERKAS Samariang 2026 programme here.
It was aimed at helping them prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State–Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, said the programme was an initiative by the SABERKAS Samariang branch to support underprivileged youths while encouraging youth participation in community welfare activities.
“Today we brought these children shopping to buy clothes and whatever they need for Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” she said at the programme held at Boulevard Shopping Mall Kuching on Sunday (March 15).
Each participant was allocated RM150 in shopping assistance to purchase clothing or other necessities.
Sharifah Hasidah, who is also Samariang assemblywoman, said programmes such as this reflect SABERKAS’ commitment to contributing to society.
“This programme involves 50 children, and it is part of our effort to show care and concern while helping to brighten their Hari Raya celebration,” she added.
She expressed hope that such welfare initiatives would continue to strengthen the community spirit and encourage youths to be more involved in social and charitable activities.
Meanwhile, commenting on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent visit to Sarawak, she said the visit focused primarily on state development matters and did not involve specific discussions on the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
However, she acknowledged that several issues under MA63 remain unresolved and will continue to be discussed by the relevant committees.
“The committees involved are working to find solutions as soon as possible,” she said.
Among the outstanding issues is the formula for the special grant under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution, which is still under discussion.
“What is important is that we reach a consensus that benefits all parties; a win-win situation where everyone is satisfied,” she added.
