KUCHING: The Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Kuching (SCAN) brought together cancer survivors, caregivers, medical professionals and volunteers for a Buka Puasa event at the Borneo Cultures Museum Restaurant here last Saturday (March 14).
The gathering was a significant occasion for the organisation as members joined their Muslim counterparts in breaking fast during the month of Ramadan.
SCAN adviser Datin Dayang Mariani Abang Zain was among the guests who graced the evening.
The atmosphere was one of warmth and reflection, as those in attendance paused to honour the journeys of individuals touched by cancer.
Survivors took the opportunity to recount their personal stories of hope and perseverance in the face of considerable adversity.
Caregivers were formally recognised for the steadfast and selfless support they provide to loved ones throughout their treatment journeys.
Volunteers, too, received acknowledgement for their continued dedication to SCAN’s cause.
SCAN president Chris Cheng described the event as a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
“In coming together to break fast and share our experiences, we draw strength from one another and reaffirm our commitment to fighting cancer with courage and dignity,” he said.
