Repeat offender detained over arcade theft

BAU: A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly breaking into arcade machines and stealing items at a premises in Tasik Biru here on Thursday (Mar 26).

Bau police chief Act Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the suspect was detained during ‘Op Cantas’.

Initial investigations found that the suspect had gone to a family entertainment centre at Tasik Biru with an accomplice who is still at large.

“The suspect and his friend went to a claw machine arcade outlet on Mar 22 at about 4am.

“They were believed to have damaged several arcade machines before taking items from inside the machines,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Haide said they later fled the scene with the stolen items using a car belonging to the suspect.

The suspect also admitted to taking Eramin 5 last week.

Police also found that the suspect has multiple past criminal records, including drug-related and violent offences.

He is being investigated under Section 427 and Section 380 of the Penal Code.
