The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said operations resumed at about 8.50 am today, involving personnel from the Tatau station.

The fire, which broke out on March 23, has spread across a large area, with no casualties reported.

Bomba said two portable pumps – one from the department and another from a plantation company – were deployed to create fire breaks to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby oil palm estates.

The operations involved 11 firefighters, supported by various assets including a fire engine and utility vehicles.

An aerial unit from Miri, equipped with a Mi-171 helicopter and 14 personnel, was also deployed to assist in the operations.

Other agencies involved include the police, the Tatau District Office and plantation workers.
