KUCHING: Malaysia concluded its 10th World Junior Wushu Championships campaign with a total of 15 medals.
The national contingent collected four gold, six silver and five bronze medals, with contributions coming across multiple events throughout the meet.
On the fourth day, Teng Jou Xin secured gold in the girls’ youth (12–14) jianshu (sword) event with a score of 8.710, adding to her previous success at the world junior level. She also contributed a bronze in qiangshu and finished sixth in changquan.
Malaysia’s gold medals also came from Chlamous Shin Jay Wong in boys’ junior taijiquan (8.870), Ho Jing Thye in boys’ junior jianshu (8.630) and Crystal Wee in girls’ youth (15–18) daoshu.
Ho and Crystal each added silver medals in qiangshu and daoshu respectively.
On the final day, Lee Ronn secured a silver medal in the boys’ youth gunshu final with a score of 9.166, maintaining a steady performance in a competitive field to finish among the top athletes.
Other silver medals were contributed by Bryan Wee in boys’ children’s daoshu, while bronze medals came from Tan Pei Ler in girls’ youth gunshu, Darren Chee in the boys’ children’s category and Bryan Wee in boys’ children’s changquan and gunshu events. The 10th World Junior Wushu Championships was held from March 26 to 31 in Tianjin, China
