Woman dies in early morning car crash incident

SIBU: A woman has died after a car crashed in the early hours of Sunday here, emergency services said.

The crash, involving a Hyundai Getz, happened at about 12:45 am along Lorong Lanang 61, near a PETRONS petrol station.

Authorities described it as a single-vehicle incident.

Firefighters arriving at the scene found the victim, an adult woman, trapped inside the car and unconscious.

Rescue crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free her from the vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health personnel.

Her body was later handed over to police for further investigation.

Nine firefighters from the Sibu Sentral station were involved in the operations, supported by a fire engine and an emergency medical response unit.

Police and health officials were also in attendance.

Fire and rescue officials said the operations ended after the area was secured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
